Logostart is an innovative spin-off company of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, founded in 2024 as a Private Company (PC). The company was established by Professor of Philosophy George N. Politis, who, together with the research team of Philosophy, Politics, Economy Laboratory, www.ppelab.gr, developed the groundbreaking educational method “Sofia at School.” This initiative aims to introduce philosophy into primary education through the use of advanced digital learning tools. Rapidly evolving, “Sofia at School” has transformed into a comprehensive educational product, successfully utilized by leading educational institutions across Greece. Logostart’s core objectives include providing IT application services, designing and developing information technology solutions, and producing original software, primarily in the EduTech (educational technology) sector. Our vision is to globally introduce the philosophical mindset to primary school students, equipping the new generation with essential skills such as critical thinking, sound judgment, the ability to formulate valid arguments, the recognition of ethical principles, and a deep understanding of justice.

Problem As confirmed by the PISA 2023 International Student Assessment Program: Greek schools are among the lowest performing countries. Greece ranks 41st in text comprehension Children do not learn to think rationally and coherently. That is why they do not assimilate knowledge, do not develop intellectually, cognitively and emotionally as much as they could. The new generation is exposed to information without the ability to evaluate the content. Young people do not learn how to transform information into knowledge. Solution: Introduction of the Philosophical way of thinking into Primary Education through an innovative educational product . The product, "Sofia@School", is characterized by: a)Expertise and content. b)he knowledge and validity of NCUA c)Content comprehensiveness - standardization - accreditation. The product introduces the Basic Concepts of Ethics and Logic and Philosophy in general as a problem solving method. It offers knowledge and skills transferable to many different fields and serves the emergence of multiple meanings. Sofia@School is utilising technology in a manner that prioritises the needs of the human user. The integration of technological advancement with the tenets of logic and ethics enables children to regulate the operation of machinery in accordance with human aspirations and the public interest.

"Sofia at School" is an innovative, standardized, and certified digital learning tool and tool that introduces complex philosophical concepts to young students in an accessible and engaging manner, without requiring any prior knowledge of philosophy. The platform offers: •tA digital environment providing a structured teaching process for educators. •tDigital platform designed for both teachers and students. •tA user-friendly interface for seamless interaction at home. Logostart's goal is to enhance and expand the digital platform of “Sofia” by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) features, aiming to scale the product into the international market, both in B2B and B2C models. By integrating AI, the platform strengthens its competitive edge in the EdTech sector, delivering high-quality content while simplifying the role of educators, ensuring accuracy in the teaching of philosophical concepts essential to children’s development.

Traction & achievements

The first version of "Sophia at School" has been successfully piloted with students from prominent private schools, including Athens College, Psychico College, Geitonas School, and Neue Schule. In its first year, the product was launched targeting fourth-grade students in leading private schools, with a second version for sixth-grade students and English-speaking users planned for the following year. The company’s growth strategy focuses on expanding within the Greek private school market, followed by Greek-speaking schools in Cyprus and abroad, as well as English-speaking schools in the US and UK. The platform is designed to scale easily and adapt to different markets with minimal adjustments. Initial funding of €100,000 was secured from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI), with further resources committed by the founder and research team to support ongoing development.
