About

Rapidly increasing chronic, neoplastic, and neurodegenerative diseases pose a significant global health challenge.Despite advanced therapies extending life expectancy and improving patient-centric care, these also multiply diagnostic CT and MRI scans.Unfortunately, there's a shortfall of specialized radiologists causing delayed diagnoses and treatment, heightened by the surge in preventive medicine. Over 64,000 patients in the UK alone face delays in cancer diagnosis, seriously affecting treatment success. The excessive workload on radiologists results in burnout and mistakes. With rising health expectations and budget constraints across the globe, finding a solution seems impossible. However, the medical field's recent digitization provides an innovative approach:AI and Machine Learning. They've shown significant advancements in radiology due to the vast quantity of data available from various diagnostic imaging methods, making them valuable for image interpretation in complex diagnoses.

Solution & Product

Our AI and ML-based software solution is designed to automatically diagnose neurological diseases in CT and MRI examinations, optimizing AI's potential in modern digital medicine. This digital tool, exclusively utilized by specialized radiologists or other healthcare professionals under radiologists' supervision, will be integrated into hospital and diagnostic center information systems via cloud technology. This automation will reduce diagnostic time, manage high volumes of examinations effectively, increase diagnostic accuracy, and improve economic efficiency. As this application rapidly expands to more medical imaging providers, it's projected to enhance radiologists' work performance, assist with repetitive, time-consuming tasks, tackle complex tasks, and aid in decision-making. Our targeted market is the global healthcare sector, specifically the radiology and neurology segments. As of 2023, the global market for AI in healthcare is expected to reach $36.1 billion, growing at a CAGR of around 50.2% from 2018 to 2025 (according to Allied Market Research). This growth is driven by an increase in the adoption of AI systems and software in healthcare, especially in radiology, due to the ongoing transition to digitized healthcare systems, increased focus on improving patient care, and the need for more effective diagnosis methods, particularly for neurodegenerative diseases.

Innovation & Scalability

Our startup is pioneering the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the field of radiology, particularly in the diagnosis of neurological diseases. The innovation lies in our software's ability to automate the analysis of CT and MRI scans, significantly reducing diagnosis time, increasing accuracy, and managing a high volume of examinations more effectively. Our technological innovation is paired with an innovative business model that leverages cloud technology. We integrate our solution into existing hospital and diagnostic center systems, enabling easy accessibility and collaboration among medical professionals regardless of geographical location. Our unique value proposition centers around three core aspects: Efficiency: Our tool dramatically reduces diagnosis time by assisting radiologists in making faster, yet accurate, decisions. Precision: Our ML algorithms are trained on a vast amount of data, enhancing the diagnostic accuracy for neurodegenerative diseases.Integration: Our cloud-based solution can seamlessly integrate with existing hospital systems, making it an adaptable and convenient tool for healthcare professionals. While there are other AI-based healthcare solutions, our focus on neurology, user-friendly integration, and cloud-based technology provides us a competitive edge. By offering a solution tailored to manage the increasing demand for neurology-related radiology diagnostics, we fill a crucial gap in the market.

Traction & achievements

Our business journey began with an idea in March 2021, leading to our first results in March 2022 and company incorporation in July 2022. We collaborated with Athena Research Center in October 2022 and developed our proprietary annotation platform by December. In 2023, we started ISO 13485 certification and achieved end-to-end integration in a clinical setting by April. Our goals are divided into five phases. Phase 1 (2021-2022) focused on technical feasibility. Phase 2 (2023-2024) involves development, evaluation, ISO 13485 certification, integration with an early adopter clinic, and model accuracy improvement. Phase 3 (2024) includes real-world testing, model retraining, clinical trials, and data acquisition for clinical evidence. Phase 4 (2025) aims for market availability through CE and FDA approval and a SAAS offering for in-hospital inference. Phase 5 (2025-2026) is dedicated to scaling up through marketing and sales expansion.

Team & Why Us

The potential for growth in the field of AI-based radiology is immense. This is largely due to the increasing demand for advanced diagnostics coupled with a shortage of specialized radiologists and the need to increase efficiency in healthcare. The global market for AI in radiology was valued at $417.2 million in 2020 and is expected to reach $2.9 billion by 2027, showing a clear trajectory of growth. Our product is highly scalable because it is cloud-based, which allows for easy expansion without the need for significant infrastructure investments. It is applicable in any setting where CT and MRI scans are used, from large hospitals to smaller diagnostic centers.Further, with potential to expand the solution to other areas of medical imaging and diagnostics, our growth potential is not confined only to neurological diseases. Our team is led by Professor Sotirios Bisdas, a Consultant Neuroradiologist and Professor at University College London and the University of Tübingen, Germany. As CEO and Chief Medical Officer, he ensures our AI solutions are clinically relevant and compliant.

Funding Needs

Our company, at the forefront of AI and medical imaging, is seeking funding to transition our proof of concept into a production-ready product. The AI-based radiology sector, where we specialize, is experiencing rapid growth, driven by the rising demand for advanced diagnostics and a global shortage of specialized radiologists. This growth is quantifiable, with the market for AI in radiology, valued at $417.2 million in 2020, projected to soar to $2.9 billion by 2027. Our product, distinguished by its cloud-based, highly scalable nature, is designed for versatility across various healthcare settings, from large hospitals to smaller diagnostic centers. Its current focus on CT and MRI scans presents opportunities for expansion into other medical imaging domains, further broadening our market potential. To achieve market readiness, we require funding for critical steps such as obtaining CE certification and ISO 13485 compliance. This investment will enable us to meet regulatory standards and launch our innovative product, thereby contributing significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare diagnostics globally.
