CityCrop is a system with the usage of advanced technologies and data, automatically grows food and medicinal plants. We think of it as a beautiful mini fridge that stocks itself with high-quality nutritious food. Our aim is to enable everyone to grow high-quality, organic, pesticide-free, vegetables, and herbs, easy regardless of knowledge and experience. The user does not have to do much; CityCrop unit takes care of automatic nutrient dosing, ph balancing, temperature control, humidity control, and odor neutralization in such a way that a user with zero knowledge on growing plants to be able to do it successfully.

Solution & Product

CityCrop has a technology that fits in most spaces and can grow plants more inexpensively than traditional agriculture while providing local, organic benefits. It allows growing locally using less energy and water supplies while producing better quality, affordable food. The fresh food grown with CityCrop technology contains more vitamins on average and does not contain pesticides, fungicides, or other poisons. The CityCrop technology truly enables users to grow fresh clean food locally with minimal effort. CityCrop’s technology has been developed and tested keeping in mind the end-user and urban environment. We have simplified the whole growing process and already tested the technology with our product. Based on the hydroponics method, CityCrop allows people to experience a healthier diet and adopt habits that contribute to a more sustainable future. CityCrop is a product that solves daily needs and at the same time a solution that offers added value to the whole family.

Innovation & Scalability

CityCrop is building a huge database with millions of sensor metrics. Using this data, we are creating multiple complex predictive models that improving the user experience, as well as help users, grow their fruits and vegetables in ideal environments. In CityCrop we have experimented with classic machine learning models in various tasks but our goal is to use deep learning techniques in order to exceed our state of the art results. CityCrop is unique because it provides users with the biggest and freshest daily produce in the least time possible. Its competitive advantages are user-friendliness, energy-efficiency, smart technology, and modularity. Our sophisticated algorithms adjust to the current environment’s conditions. We collect and analyze the data from every CityCrop device in order to improve the growth performance of the plantations Our nutrients formula optimizes the management of nutrients by automating the process of the dosing pumps CityCrop is a modular device, therefore, you can expand the existing system by connecting more devices together for bigger daily production or for creating more height for bigger plants (e.g. tomatoes, chili peppers, etc.). We have extensive knowledge of both product-driven growth techniques and strategies as well as have in the past participated in various marketing campaigns utilizing mainly digital advertising and social media campaigns. Traction & achievements

CityCrop started having traction from its first year of incorporation through the pre-order campaign where worked. This thing brought funds were helped us with product development. Also, since the 2018 summer, we started sent the CityCrop devices to our clients with a ratio of 75% B2B and 25% B2C. Currently, we have over 100 customers mainly in EU countries such as Greece, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, UK, and the US. Also, from the summer we collaborate with the Big Bang School in Thessaloniki where we provided 10 CityCrop devices for mainly educational purposes. In the next weeks, we will announce a collaboration with the Municipality of Athens Greece in order to add CityCrop units in primary schools and public buildings. Additionally, we are working with 5 distributors in the EU countries to have them in order to establish better in the countries we have customers.

Team & Why Us

We are working together for about four years and we have brought 2 high complex hardware products to the market. The CityCrop v1 and the CityCrop v2. Christos Raftogiannis is the founder and CEO of CityCrop he’s responsible for the business development, strategic partnerships, and the growth of our business globally. He has 11 years\' experience in hydroponics, business development, and management. Giannis Triantafyllos is CTO at CityCrop, he studied Computer Engineering at Piraeus University (Applied Sciences) and holds an MSc in Data Science at AUEB. Stauros Triantafyllos is a Software Engineer. He has studied Informatics at Ionian University and has at least five years of work experience in technology projects. Constantine Komodromos is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK. Since beginning his career in 2000 he has accumulated extensive working experience with multi-national organizations such as WPP Group, PWC Fortis, SAIPEM.

Funding Needs

Currently, we are in an open seed round where we want to raise a €500k in order to increase our marketing reach for the B2C CityCrop devices, to finalize the R&D on the B2B B2B device which is dedicated to the HORECA businesses and grocery stores, and to optimize our production line.
