About
Cogitat, established in December 2020 as an Imperial College London spin-out, has emerged as a leader in AI-empowered EEG decoding technology. Our mission is to revolutionize human-machine interaction through innovative brainwave decoding technology, creating non-invasive mind-machine interfaces driven by extensive research in EEG decoding. In collaboration with Imperial College London, we've developed a unique dataset comprising over 500 hours of time-synchronized, multimodal brainwave data from hundreds of individuals. This proprietary data, combined with our patented AI algorithms, enables robust AI models that operate in a plug-and-play manner on unseen individuals, showing resilience to various noise sources. Our achievements include winning the prestigious "NeurIPS 2021 - Benchmarks for EEG Transfer Learning" competition at the world's premier machine learning conference. Our versatile decoding framework adapts across various EEG headsets and applications. We are now focusing on transforming stroke rehabilitation, exploring market opportunities in physical rehabilitation, and addressing diverse health conditions. Cogitat is uniquely positioned to revolutionise the field of EEG decoding, combining vast diverse datasets, wide demographics, neuroscience-backed ML approaches, rigorous validation in both everyday-life and clinical settings, and guaranteed compatibility with any EEG device, including future innovations.
Solution & Product
CogiGame is Cogitat's flagship solution, a revolutionary platform that combines AI-powered brainwave decoding with virtual reality to create an immersive and effective stroke rehabilitation experience. Key features include: 1. AI-Empowered Brainwave Decoding: Our proprietary algorithms interpret brain signals in real-time, allowing patients to control the virtual environment through thought alone. 2. No Physical Movement Required: This makes rehabilitation accessible even to patients with severe motor impairments. 3. Real-Time Neurofeedback: Immediate visual feedback enhances neuroplasticity and accelerates rehabilitation. 4. Hardware-Agnostic Solution: Compatible with any EEG headset, making it uniquely accessible and scalable. CogiGame works by capturing brain signals through EEG sensors when a user thinks about performing a physical action. Our AI technology then decodes these signals into control commands for the virtual environment. This creates a closed-loop system where patients can see their thoughts translated into actions, reinforcing neural pathways and promoting recovery. Unlike traditional methods or other tech solutions, CogiGame provides personalised exercises and instant feedback, enhancing patient engagement and motivation. It's not just treating symptoms – it's empowering the brain to heal itself, revolutionising stroke rehabilitation and opening new possibilities for recovery.
Innovation & Scalability
Cogitat's innovation lies in its groundbreaking approach to real-time, universal brainwave decoding. Our technology stands out with several key features: 1. Instant Interpretation: Works immediately for anyone without extensive calibration. 2. Single-Trial Accuracy: Able to decode individual movements with high precision. 3. Universal Adaptability: Works with everyone with no training or calibration needed, making it highly scalable. 4. Immediate Feedback: Enables natural, thought-driven control. Our scalability is further enhanced by our hardware-agnostic approach. By working with any EEG headset, we've removed a significant barrier to widespread adoption. This universality allows for easy integration into various healthcare settings and home-based rehabilitation programs. Cogitat's technology is not limited to stroke rehabilitation. Our core AI technology has the potential to become the standard operating system for non-invasive BCI and EEG-reading hardware. Future applications extend to other neurological conditions, mental health, cognitive enhancement, and various sectors including healthcare, education, gaming, and workplace productivity. Our scalable architecture is designed to adapt to emerging technologies, ensuring Cogitat remains at the forefront of BCI innovation. With continuous AI advancement and adaptation, we're positioned to democratize brain-computer interfaces and enhance human potential across sectors globally.
