About
Diestia Systems is primarily focused on addressing the challenges associated with assessing and ensuring optimal visual outcomes after cataract surgery, particularly for patients receiving multifocal Intraocular Lens (IOL) implants. The specific medical issues and challenges it aims to tackle include: - Inadequate Post-Operative Vision Assessment - Complex Visual Needs of Pseudo-Phakic Patients - Customization of Cataract Surgery -Early Detection of Post-Surgical Complications By developing advanced diagnostic technologies that offer fast, accurate assessments of the optical performance of pseudo-phakic eyes using low-energy, visible light, Diestia Systems aims to fill these gaps. Its technology is designed to provide a more comprehensive understanding of visual function post-cataract surgery, enabling personalized patient care and improving overall outcomes for those undergoing premium cataract procedures.
Solution & Product
We have adopted innovative and affordable technology to overcome the technical limitations that measurements of pseudo-phakic eyes require (fast, sub-second measurement of the optical performance of subjects, using low-energy, visible light). Diestia Systems has also developed the required metrics to successfully communicate the results of such measurements in order to help both clinicians and patients understand and if needed correct, the outcome of a premium cataract surgery. We have enclosed the above in a clinical instrument which can be produced in a large scale, offering a problem solving platform, within the ophthalmic, clinical workflow.
Innovation & Scalability
At the core of Diestia Systems' technological prowess is the feasibility of implementing these advanced concepts into a practical, clinical setting. The technology's design for fast, accurate measurements using low-energy, visible light is not just innovative but also practically implementable in a clinical environment. It aligns well with the existing ophthalmic clinical workflows, thereby enhancing its feasibility for widespread adoption. Scaling up Diestia Systems' product, particularly its advanced ophthalmic diagnostic technology, involves several strategic avenues to increase production, expand market reach, and enhance product offerings. Here are key strategies for scaling up: - Scale Production by adopting and applying standardized manufacturing procedures - Develop New Features: Based on customer feedback and emerging needs, continuously innovate and add new functionalities to your diagnostic platform. - Global Certifications: Obtain regulatory approvals in key markets, such as FDA clearance in the U.S. and CE marking in Europe, to ensure product acceptance and expand market access. - Leverage Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with IOL Manufacturers and/or establish distribution partnerships Finally, to accelerate growth and scalability we aim to explore external funding opportunities (i.e. venture capital, grants) while we keep re-investing current profits to fund expansion efforts.
Traction & achievements
So far, Diestia has attracted external funding in the form of grants (Eureka Network, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, EIT Health) (more than €400k) and has also secured profit from selling its services to 3rd party companies (more than €600k).
Team & Why Us
Our team, collectively, possesses the capabilities and experience to not only develop innovative technology and devices, but to enchannel this in a well-defined and focused go-to-market strategy to achieve commercial success.
Funding Needs
Diestia Systems is currently investigating the potential collaboration with external sources of funding, mainly to obtain regulatory approvals in key markets. Roughly, Diestia Systems might be asking something between €1-2m to achieve its regulatory goals, in the following years.
