According to a EU directive, all wind farms that are developed within Natura 2000 protected areas in European Union countries must install bird deterrence systems on wind turbines. In addition, many other countries outside the EU have issued similar directives. Our system monitors the sky and as soon as it realizes that a bird is approaching the wind turbine, it emits a deterrence sound. If the bird continues its way towards the wind turbine and enters the danger zone, it stops the wind turbine. The Bird Monitoring System® is an innovative bird deterrence system that combines high-tech hardware and Artificial Intelligence software (developed in-house) that protects wildlife around wind farms. It recognizes protected birds near wind farms, predicts their course and whether it poses a risk of impact on the wind turbine blades and prevents them by playing deterrence sounds. If their course is not diverted then the system stops the operation of the wind turbine, until the bird leaves the danger area

Innovation & Scalability

Existing systems are based on outdated motion detection technologies and do not have the ability to distinguish birds from airplanes, wind turbine wings, clouds, etc., thus producing many false positive events and stopping wind turbines for no reason, costing significantly in production loss. Our solution is based on Computer Vision and a machine Learning algorithm is the heart of the system. The algorithm is constantly being trained and is getting more accurate every day. As a result, false positives have been eliminated and so have unnecessary stops of the wind turbines, thus maximising production of the wind farms

Traction & achievements

We have already installed our solution to more than 40 wind farms and 160 wind turbines in four countries. Namely Greece, Italy, France and Germany. We have received 5 national and international awards We have installed our marine version of our solution to the first offshore wind farm in the Mediterranean, in Taranto Italy Our solution has been positively evaluated by the University of Western Macedonia with an effectiveness rate of more than 95%. The evaluation lasted for more than 6 months and was conducted comparing field findings with the findings of the Bird Monitoring System® 2022 has been a turning point for us, since we managed to expand to 3 difficult markets in Europe: Italy, France and Germany. We regularly participate in at least 2 international exhibitions per year and we expect 2023 to be a year of further growth in Europe 2024 will be the year of expansion to the USA, Australia and South Africa, where similar regulations apply

Team & Why Us

We are a team of experienced and yet vey ambitious executives, who have worked in C-level positions in the industries of ICT. We decided to create a company that will design and implement solutions based on Computer Vision, especially for the Renewable Energy Services industry. We know how to design applied solutions based on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies. Why us? Because we belong in the very closed club of Greek companies that export hi-end technology for niche markets, like the RES market. Because we are capable and dedicated to become the world leader in the Bird Deterrence Systems market

Funding Needs

We are currently sufficiently self funded, however fast expansion to international markets requires more funds so we are always open to suggestions
