ENERCA is dealing with the performance of energy surveys and energy audits of the electromechanical installations, the elaboration of energy studies, the Energy Services (ESCo) provision and the implementation of Energy Efficiency Projects, aiming to the energy cost reduction on every separate installation.

Solution & Product

ENERCA has developed avax, a modular and scalable Data Acquisition and Energy Management Platform, aimed primarily at industrial customers and large electricity consumers, supporting cloud and/or onsite installations. Data acquisition is achieved via the SmGs (Smart Gateways), developed by the same company. The SmGs are low-cost, IoT, DIN rail mounted devices, supporting a plethora of widely used industrial communication protocols for the acquisition of data from meters and devices with additional Digital and Analog I/O capabilities for sensor readings. Through an asynchronous messaging communication protocol, which supports both type of connections, brokerless and/or through a dedicated message broker, the SmGs can provide Real Time data exchange, from small installations to large scale network topologies, supporting hundreds of thousands of connections.

Innovation & Scalability

The avax platform, as an event-driven processing and streaming software platform, performs advanced mathematical and statistical analysis dealing with Big Data, monitors mission-critical real-time measurements and produces event-based data flows in conjunction with the “typical” operation of an Energy Management Software. The SMGs on the other hand, are cost effective, low power, embedded, DIN Rail mounted, IoT devices that can acquire data from any group of already installed meters and sensors and measure directly the electricity consumption of single phase and three phase loads. With the use of the SMGs, an existing metering infrastructure, regardless how old it is, will automatically be transformed to a Smart grid, with extremely low cost. From a single industrial installation to a nation-wide installation (TSOs, Aggregators), the SMGs are capable to acquire and exchange data in real time and also provide decentralized data analysis and decision making. There is a high demand in the international market, for providing integrated energy services and products aimed at the energy efficiency optimization, the energy costs reduction, and the greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Under this context and as the global energy market is limitless, ENERCA is not aiming only at the local Greek market but also aims to increase the exports to many foreign countries.

ENERCA during the last 4 years has managed to build a remarkable clients list. This list includes large international industrial and business groups, who have trusted the company’s provided services and developed products (see indicative clientele on the company's website). Concurrently, ENERCA maintains a collaboration with the Electrical & Computers Engineering Depts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and also of the University of Western Macedonia, where they are working together in several research projects, such as the “A holistic framework for Empowering SME’s capacity to increase their energy efficiency” project funded by the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, the "Innovation Coupons for the SMEs of Central Macedonia" project and the “Development of New Innovative Low‐Carbon Energy Technologies to Enhance EXCELlence in the Region of Western Macedonia” project.

Team & Why Us

Nikolaos Lettas (CEO), MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, is the business lead of ENERCA and the manager for the design and implementation of large-scale electromechanical projects. He is co-author of 10 publications at journals and conferences, dealing with the energy efficiency, demand side management and power quality. He has participated in 14 R&D European and national projects and he is an elected senior member of IEEE. Nikolaos Pasialis (CTO), MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, is the project manager for the development of the avax Smart Metering system and Energy Management platform alongside with the design and the development of the SmGs. He has vast experience in industrial communication protocols and in industrial automation and metering systems. We are working together over the last 15 years. During this period, we had delivered many major Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) projects worldwide (Europe, Turkey, Middle East, USA).
