Feed Innovations & Technologies P.C. (FeedIT) is a spin off company of the Agricultural University of Athens that was founded by Prof. K. Mountzouris and his team in April 2024. FeedIT mission is "Innovation in the design and production of functional feeds & ingredients, technological tools and specialized services that generate a distinct quality and sustainability signature for the livestock industry and the agri-food sector” We aim to create value by addressing contemporary market needs for: a) Innovative nutritional and technological products that can assist in effectively steering livestock production towards the “golden ratio” of efficiency, health, resilience and product quality leading to optimal sustainability, b) State of the art substantiation of how critical dietary components function in the context of the overall diet and environment. c) Scientifically proven dietary solutions and services creating positive imprints on One Health, Circular economy and Green deal roadmaps.

The solutions and products FeedIT can offer include: Functional feed ingredients and specialty mixtures such as high-value olive fruit bioactive compounds produced via proprietary valorization technologies from olive process waste Functional microbial proteins and metabolites produced via fermentation technologies on selected substrate matrixes. Diagnostics and performance prediction tools via development of tissue specific and systemic biomarkers monitoring animal homeostasis, health and resilience. Tailored services measuring and validating nutritional solutions for animal production efficiency, resilience, health and product quality.

Innovation & Scalability

FeedIT nutritional products and technological concepts are unique and organized in three pillars. Pillar 1 aims to valorise agri-food waste via biotechnological processes to significantly improve livestock nutrition, product quality and overall resilience in a sustainable manner. Pillar 2 aims to provide analytical tools and diagnostics for measuring critical homeostasis biomarkers that could provide a sound basis for predicting livestock performance and resilience to challenge stressors. Pillar 3 aims to offer tailored services for measuring and validating nutritional solutions for animal production efficiency, resilience, health and product quality. Pilars 1 and 2, involves processes, products and technologies that can be scaled to industrial level following appropriate investment.

Traction & achievements

FeedIT has established the concept and lab scale production of a functional feed ingredient rich in polyphenols via the proprietary valorization of olive process waste in an environmental friendly way. The product is expected to go to industrial scale by the end of 2025. FeedIT is actively engaged in R&D of microbial proteins and metabolites via ongoing tailored fermentation technologies. FeedIT develops an analytical platform with molecular and biochemical biomarkers relevant for homeostasis control, currently offered as a service focused in poultry with plans for other species in 2025.

Funding Needs

FeedIT was established in April 2024. As a fresh start up, covering innovative Agri/Tec products, technologies and services, it represents an investment opportunity and requires short to medium-term funding to: a) scale up the production of the nutritional solutions developed and/or under development and b) further validate the multi-biomarker analytical platform at commercial scale. Given that our products and solutions are expected to generate an EBITA of more than € 10 million, once the products can go on sale at a B2B level, an initial investment in the range of 1 M €, will be required for further development, IPR, proof of concept and modular industrial scale production.
