KYMATONICS P.C., a spin-off from the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser of FORTH, excels in developing innovative optical solutions. Our team, with expertise in physics, optics, biophotonics, economics and market analysis, is dedicated to pioneering smart and precise light control technologies. Solution & Product

Our key innovation is the modular, re-configurable adaptive opaque lens Wavelens, as a stand-alone prototype product in the shell of a standard microscope objective suitable for precision illumination and light control in a variety of use cases/applications. Based on Wavelens, KYMATONICS offers the following products and services: Light Sheet Microscopy (LM) Wavelens: Revolutionizing microscopy with aberration-free, high-resolution imaging. Structured Illumination (SI) Wavelens: A versatile optoelectronic device, SI Wavelens is set to transform automobile lighting. Utilizing camera-based neural network segmentation, it identifies cars and pedestrians, brightly illuminating the area while darkening locations around oncoming drivers and pedestrians. This technology significantly enhances road safety by reducing glare and improving visibility for all road users. Custom Optical and Microscopy Solutions: We develop bespoke systems tailored to specific needs, including Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging, Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer, Structure Illumination and Light Sheet Microscopy.

Innovation & Scalability

We filled a patent for our Wavelens technology (EP22164624 filed on 28/03/2022 and PCT/EP2022/086594 filed on 19/12/2022), for the following use cases namely i) microscopy, ii) automotive external adaptive lighting systems, iii) cryptography and secure communications, iv) photolithography and v) optical fiber drivers. The first search results indicate a clear inventive step, and the FTO analysis shows no blocking patents in either of the above markets. Microscopy is the flagship application of KYMATONICS and in particularly aims to address the Light Sheet and Structure Illumination (SI) microscopy market with the main customers: •tResearchers •tClinical Research Organisations •tMicroscopy producers

Traction & achievements

Our team has already sold one SI Wavelens and is in the process of selling two more. We already contacted microscopy producers to follow up our business model scenario for 2024.

Our team comprises people with many years of experience in microscopy, while also recently acquired significant market knowledge through the owned – means implemented lightsheet market survey. KYMATONICS brings high-resolution imaging at high penetration depths in large and in-vivo samples. This is made possible when our key innovation is introduced in a microscope., which cost-efficiently offers the user greater resolution at greater penetration depth.

Funding Needs

Our goal is to establish Wavelens in the Light Sheet and Structure Illumination Microscopy market, while also developing a next-generation microscope WAVESPIM based on our innovation and secure our IP in the national phases. To achieve those targets we need 500.000€ for 12.5 percent of our company.
