About

Metis 4.0 is a innovative company offering a revolutionary product in the furniture manufacturing and interior design sectors, which combines unprecedented design and artistic freedom to the end users, and a wide range of manufacturing qualities, together with very low manufacturing costs. It bridges the gap between interior designers and producers. The reduction in overhead will allow for a more efficient allocation of capital, as well as interesting synergies with local craftsmen, vastly benefitting construction quality and aesthetics.

Solution & Product

We offer an online tool for revolutionizing the implementation of any design idea in the special constructions sector. This ground-breaking tool imports designs, validates them in terms of manufacturability, ergonomics and aesthetics, gives implementation guidelines, costs and timelines, and provides immediate access to a wide ecosystem of producers, craftsmen, artists, and installation crews who can affordably bring design ideas to life on the basis of a series of pre-agreed technical and organizational-economic protocols. Through the offered solution, (a) designers have a direct view of the final feasible product, its cost and delivery time; (b) different manufacturers are enabled to work in parallel focusing their work on manageable constructions; and (c) the final result satisfies the customer's ergonomic, quality, and aesthetic criteria, at a lower cost and in less time than it takes today.

Innovation & Scalability

The proposed digital solution certainly has no physical limitations. It enables local designers, producers and manufacturers anywhere in the world to coordinate their production capabilities in order to create special constructions. However, the core team recognizes that the functioning of the ecosystem is based on the exploitation of a set of well-defined rules, which may not have universal resonance. For this reason, our business plan initially focuses on the Greek market, which at this time presents an exceptional dynamic, so that we can demonstrate in practice the advantages of the ecosystem, before proceeding to its further development and dissemination worldwide. In the next phase, markets with similar characteristics to the Greek market (in terms of strong tourism activity, and the existence of a strong manufacturing sector) have been identified, in order to show the possibility of promoting the system to foreign producers and manufacturers. These include Croatia, Lebanon, Albania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Austria, which have very different cultures and traditions of craftsmanship. Furthermore, significant expansion opportunities are expected to arise in the near future in Ukraine and Turkey. At the end of this road, which will allow us to solve any problems of culture, supply chain expansion, and user base enlargement, lies a global market that is expected to exceed 14.5 trillion dollars by 2030.

Traction & achievements

The product brings to the digital world a methodology for the design and construction of custom industrial products systems that has been tested in the field several times, by the main shareholder of our corporate structure, Andreas Kyranis. Building upon his past experience as a co-founder of the companies KATOKEIN and NEO KATOKEIN which later merged into the NEOSET group, he designed and built a method for designing, implementing and assembling special constructions in the various projects he undertook as an architect. His innovative approach allows all building parts being assembled in the construction site, whether they are products coming from a robotic production line or contain valuable hand-made parts, to come and "snap" perfectly together.

Team & Why Us

Metis 4.0 is building on 40 years of experience in the interior design and manufacturing sector. Its founding members are Antonis Kalis (CEO) and Andreas Kyranis (CTO). Antonis Kalis, PhD, is an experienced project manager, awarded with the 2000 Chester Sall Memorial award of the Consumer Electronics Society, and has served as the technical director of large EU projects, awarded with the prestigious Lloyd’s List Global Innovation Award in 2014. Andreas Kyranis, a cofounder and comanager of «NEO KATOIKEIN», was among the first to implement fully automated systems for the production of customized industrial furniture in Greece. He invented the methodology lying under the hood of the online tool. The core team is complemented by a multidisciplinary team that was formed with the broadest cooperation of scientists, technicians, creators and skilled producers, who have the infrastructure and know-how and are willing to actively participate in the implementation.

Funding Needs

The strategy for entering the product in this market is to follow a B2B model, since the latter is dominant in the special construction market, characterized by large orders, high price competition, centralized decision-making, and a strong shift to digital platforms trade, and to production lines automation. Early studies have shown that the use of the proposed solution can meet the expectations of 70% of producers who have not yet entered the digital age, improve the user experience, and open the market for relevant small and micro businesses. In order to achieve this goal, the company aims at receiving angel funding in the order of 100K so as to reach TRL5, before aiming at seed funding.

ONE LINER

Metis 4.0 is a novel technology tool that bridges the gap between interior designers and producers.
