About

Metis PC is an innovation hub and R&D engine founded in 2021 to bridge the gap between academic excellence and industrial needs in the natural products sector. The company operates as a Deep-Tech accelerator, offering a comprehensive suite of specialized solutions that include advanced computational analysis, in vitro biological assays, and high-precision chemical characterization. Our team, consisting of elite researchers in pharmacy, biology, chemistry, and nanotechnology, focuses on delivering science-driven strategies for innovative applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, and agrochemical industries. Headquartered in Athens and supported by an extensive network of institutional partnerships, Metis is committed to enhancing client competitiveness by drastically reducing R&D risks and ensuring the long-term sustainability of investments.

Solution & Product

Metis accelerates drug discovery and product development through a proprietary hybrid platform that integrates in silico screening with experimental validation. We provide high-throughput analysis of complex samples (extracts, biofluids) using cutting-edge tools such as Free Energy Perturbation (FEP) for accurate binding affinity predictions and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations to understand molecular behavior. These techniques allow for the precise prioritization of lead compounds, significantly reducing R&D timelines and failure rates. Our solution is complemented by rapid, high-quality in vitro assays for evaluating antioxidant and anti-aging properties. A cornerstone of our product is our curated data library, a strategic IP asset used to optimize research protocols and ensure informed, data-driven decision-making.

Innovation & Scalability

The core innovation of Metis lies in its proprietary dual methodology that merges advanced computational modeling with empirical data, surpassing traditional service-based models. Unlike competitors, Metis utilizes in silico tools to minimize "false positives" before the laboratory phase, making R&D exceptionally cost-effective and precise. Scalability is driven by the standardization of these computational workflows and our data library. Our revenue model is evolving from customized consultancy toward Technology Licensing and the sale of proprietary formulations developed through our internal R&D. Continuous investment in high-performance computing and lab infrastructure allows us to serve a global market without a linear increase in costs, positioning Metis as a scalable Bio-IT platform for outsourced innovation.

Traction & achievements

Metis has established strategic alliances with industry leaders, including Anfarm Hellas S.A., KORRES, Alfa Analytical Instruments, STYMON, and FoodOxys. The company actively participates in national and international research programs, fostering synergies between academia and industry. We maintain a vast network of institutional partnerships with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (pharmaceutical innovation), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (pharmacology), NCSR "Demokritos" (nanotechnology), and the Athens University of Economics and Business (strategic analysis). These collaborations validate our ability to translate complex research into market-ready industrial applications. Financially, Metis demonstrates consistent growth through a diversified model combining project contracts, consulting, and product sales.

Team & Why Us

Our team bridges the gap between scientific excellence and entrepreneurial expertise. Dr. Sofia Mitakou, Professor at NKUA with over 100 publications and 5 patents, leads our scientific vision. Alkis Skaltsounis, co-founder of successful spin-offs like PharmaGnose, brings extensive experience in biotech venture management. Panagiotis Skaltsounis, an NTUA Mechanical Engineer, specializes in microfluidics and nanotechnology. Paraskevi Kalantzi provides expertise in multivariate statistical analysis (PCA), while Evangelos Kalampokis (PhD Cand.) focuses on advanced chemical characterization. Growth Strategy: We aim to scale by transitioning into a "Productized Service" model, expanding into international markets with high demand for outsourced R&D. We are investing in upgrading infrastructure and digitalizing our workflows to foster global strategic partnerships and set new benchmarks in preclinical natural product research.

Funding Needs

Metis seeks targeted funding to accelerate three strategic pillars: - Infrastructure Enhancement: Investing in state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and high-performance computational platforms to increase service capacity and precision. - International Expansion: Penetrating global markets with high demand for specialized R&D, supported by localized marketing and regulatory adaptation strategies. - Marketing & Client Acquisition: Strengthening brand visibility and expanding our B2B client base through strategic partnerships and targeted industry presence. These investments will enable the transition to a high-performance, scalable operation, reinforcing Metis’s leadership in science-driven R&D services.
