About

Motonius is an R&D company focusing on innovative motorcycle and urban mobility technologies. Our core product is a patent pending Dual Front Wheel (DFW) system, providing great maneuverability, additional grip and increased cornering capabilities, offering superior road performance to a wide user spectrum, from beginners to expert riders. We also enhance this system with active control capabilities on steering and lean, thus we enable the development of new Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) and push the boundaries for reaching higher levels of safety and autonomous operation in L-category vehicles. Currently, based on our patented technology we develop a new multi-purpose vehicle dedicated for industrial facilities. In addition, we offer consulting services regarding sustainable and circular design and production of automotive parts as well as Digital Product Passports for automotive products.

Solution & Product

In order to extend safety, allow riders to expand their limits and enjoy every ride, we have developed and tested a Dual Front Wheel (DFW) system, i.e. a mechanical system that installs two front wheels in (almost) any motorcycle. It extends safety not only through better braking and cornering capabilities for beginners, but also through great maneuverability and superior road performance for experienced riders. The process is simple; you chose the model that will be converted to a 3-wheeler and our system is directly integrated into the existing chassis (replacing the typical single front wheel system), with minimal intervention. As an add-on we are developing active control features, such as lean, steer and self-balance control with the intention to enable the industry towards advanced safety and autonomous features for motorcycles. Our range of products currently expands to a multi-purpose vehicle dedicated for industrial environments, providing easy point-to-point personnel transfer and light equipment transport, especially on narrow spaces. A low-cost and safe solution, adaptable for maintenance or any other intra-facility use.

Innovation & Scalability

Our patent pending core product embeds a technological innovation that allows motorcycles to have better grip and stability, be more agile in urban environments as well as more enjoyable to drive by any kind of rider, beginner or expert. This technology targets to reduce accidents and fatalities on two wheels and is inclusive allowing any person to ride a motorcycle. Its unique value is the extended safety and great performance compared to any other 3-wheel solution, and the easy integration in almost any existing or new motorcycle model at low cost. It integrates active control (as an add-on) with lean, steer and self-balancing capabilities, paving the way for easier and cheaper integration of autonomous systems such as the ones in cars (lane assist, emergency braking, etc). The competitive advantage is the system's ability to be installed into various types of motorcycles with low R&D and production cost (comparative to other three-wheel systems) for OEMs.

Traction & achievements

Since our establishment as a legal entity, we managed to build a network with the respective industry, corresponding to OEMs from the EU, US, China and India markets. Based on the interest in our idea we invested in our core product, a patent pending Dual Front Wheel system, which is currently on TRL-6 and undergoing further testing and refinements. We have also established strategic partnerships with NVIDIA through their Inception Program and SolidWorks through their entrepreneur sponsorship program. At the same time we have completed the Investment Readiness Program (IRP) of the EIT Urban Mobility and ranked among the top-15 mobility startups of our cohort and since June 2024 we are being funded by Horizon Europe as a beneficiary in circular economy ambitious project (CSSBoost). Most notable, we submitted our patent to the European Patent Office in November 2024 and await its evaluation.

Team & Why Us
