About
Optimems Smart Energy Solutions P.C. offers a novel customer-centric platform that turns small and medium consumers into next-generation microgrids. Holistic optimized energy management, real-time monitoring and control, interoperable operation, and integration of electromobility are only a few of the capabilities provided by the umbrella of Optimems solutions. At Optimems, we integrate products and services, while addressing all the current and future challenges which emerge while Europe advances towards the era of Smart Grids 2.0. Optimems is a spin-off from the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH/ITI).
Solution & Product
The Optimems EMS platform offers key product features for microgrids and VPPs. It includes an Asset Optimal Dispatch Engine for dynamic optimization which also enables real-time compensation of weather and user behavior disturbances. Users are allowed to define objectives based on their needs (resilience, optimal financial operation, maximization of self-consumption etc.) and benefit from cross-energy sector integration (electrical and thermal assets).. Consumption/Generation/Price Forecast Engines provide accurate inputs to the core optimization engine using advanced machine learning algorithms. Real-time Monitoring/Control and KPI-based Analytics enable robust measurement harvesting, resilient scheduling, and visual performance evaluation. Electromobility integration allows optimal EV charger management, integrating OCPP protocol. Participation in Demand-Response programs supports open protocols (OpenADR), pricing integration, and demand-side management through EV charger-based VPPs.
Innovation & Scalability
The Optimems Framework incorporates innovative features that have been published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at renowned conferences. Key highlights include: A. The optimization core engine, utilizing the concept of "Virtual Distributed Energy Resource - vDER," enables modeling of various assets (consumers, producers, or storage units) of any size. B. The optimization algorithm considers multiple parameters, with a significant emphasis on battery health to prevent rapid degradation, resulting in efficient day-ahead and real-time operation schedules. C. The PV-forecasting engine employs a hybrid AI-powered approach, combining physical modeling and data-driven techniques. It accurately forecasts even small PV installations, with real-time readaptation capabilities. D. The intelligent software controller facilitates seamless integration between commercial inverters and the core Optimems EMS components. Its modular architecture enables easy connection through open communication protocols. With low computational requirements, it can be hosted within each inverter, eliminating the need for additional hardware. These cutting-edge features demonstrate Optimems' commitment to advanced technology and its ability to deliver reliable and efficient solutions for energy management.
Traction & achievements
