Parkaroo is a smart urban mobility company developing a real-time street-parking intelligence layer for drivers and cities. Its solution combines proprietary IoT sensors, street-level sensing and a digital platform to detect parking occupancy and provide live information on available spaces. The technology helps drivers find parking faster and reduces unnecessary vehicle circulation, while providing municipalities with real-time ground-truth parking data for better parking management, efficient use of urban space and data-driven urban planning. Unlike community-based platforms that rely on users reporting availability, static mapping solutions or conventional parking infrastructure that can be expensive and difficult to scale, Parkaroo provides live, street-level parking intelligence through its own sensing infrastructure.

Solution & Product

The hardware consists of compact, low-power sensors using a magnetometer array to detect vehicle presence in individual parking spaces. The sensors transmit occupancy data in real time through NB-IoT connectivity. The hardware is designed for both indoor and outdoor conditions, with an IP68-rated casing, long operating life and rapid installation. The software platform processes the sensor data and delivers live parking availability through the Parkaroo mobile application. Drivers can discover available spaces and receive navigation based on current parking availability. For municipalities, the platform provides street-level parking data and analytics to support parking management and urban planning.

The technology is designed for rapid and cost-efficient deployment, with compact sensors that can be installed in minutes and require limited maintenance. The platform can integrate data from large numbers of sensors and serve drivers and municipalities across an expanding network. Scalability is built into both the hardware and software architecture: the same technology can be deployed from individual streets to entire municipalities and then replicated across cities and countries. As the network grows, Parkaroo builds a larger street-level parking dataset while maintaining the same core technology and platform, supporting expansion first across Greece and subsequently throughout the EU and international markets.

Parkaroo is led by a female founder with 10+ years of experience in business strategy and operations, supported by a technical team with deep expertise in embedded hardware, microsensors, IoT, software engineering, cloud infrastructure and systems architecture. The team combines complementary capabilities across the full technology stack, from developing and deploying physical sensing hardware to building the software, data infrastructure and applications required to operate the platform at scale. Team members also bring previous experience developing IoT and microsensor technologies, providing relevant technical expertise to address the complexity of real-world street-level deployment. The team was brought together around a problem they had experienced themselves and a shared vision of making finding parking faster and easier while helping cities manage urban space more effectively. This combination of firsthand problem understanding, technical depth and business expertise positions Parkaroo to develop, deploy and scale the solution.
