About

Recyblue’s innovation lies in its proprietary technology for recycling nylon fishing nets, a material that is currently non-recyclable through traditional methods. Fishing nets are usually left floating, on the bottom of the ocean or on the beach after being collected by local guards or environmental action organizations. This problem creates a great amount of pollution of the earth and the sea and endangers the life of all marine species. Recyblue targets the global recycled nylon market, which is projected to reach 3 Billions by 2030, driven by increasing demand for sustainable materials in industries such as automotive, textiles, and packaging. Our primary customers include manufacturers seeking high-quality recycled nylon granules to meet sustainability goals and regulatory requirements. For example, the automotive industry is increasingly using recycled materials to reduce carbon footprints, while the textile industry is adopting circular economy practices to minimize waste. We have already secured partnerships with fish farmers , nylon producers, NGOs, and received strong interest from potential customers in Europe and Far East especially in Textiles Industry. Our business model focuses on selling recycled granules at a competitive price, while also offering collection and recycling services for discarded nets. This creates a dual revenue stream and ensures a steady supply of raw materials.

Solution & Product

We gather and recycle all fishing nets and their leftovers, through a unique technological, non chemical process that creates zero waste and transform them into new raw material (polyamide granules) that is ready to be used by a various number of industry sectors. Our process efficiently cleans and transforms discarded nets into high-quality nylon granules, which can be reused in manufacturing. This technology is unique because it addresses the chemical complexity of nylon, enabling a cost-effective and scalable recycling solution. Unlike existing methods that downcycle nylon into lower-value products, our granules meet industry standards for high-performance applications, such as automotive parts and textiles. By closing the loop on nylon waste, we not only reduce environmental pollution but also create a sustainable alternative to virgin materials. Recyblue operates in the broad sector of recycling but there is no one in Greece or even Europe that does the processing the way we will do it (non chemical with zero waste disposal and a clean new raw material ready to be used by industry). The mechanical recycling procedure that we follow allows us to recycle also the fishing nets with antifouling (a substance of coper that protects the nets from fungus that potentially harm the fish). That way we are not only innovative but also in a unique position.

Innovation & Scalability

Recyblue’s solution addresses a critical environmental issue by recycling thousands of tons of discarded nylon nets, reducing ocean pollution and protecting marine life. By creating a circular economy for nylon, we decrease the demand for virgin materials, lowering carbon emissions and conserving resources. Socially, our project supports sustainable practices in industries and communities reliant on fishing. Economically, we tap into a growing market for recycled materials, creating jobs and offering a profitable, scalable business model. Recyblue’s impact is both global and transformative, aligning with the EU’s Green Deal and sustainability goals. Our producing ratio is 1:1 We take 1 ton of waste, and we give back, about 1 ton of high quality granules.(We only take out salt, sand, soil, and foreign materials). Unlike to other methods, like chemical recycling, where their ratio is too low. We do recycle nets which have anti fouling on. So far, nobody touch the nets which contains anti fouling on them. These are 1000s of tons on yearly basis, and they just abandon them, or send them to incinerator. We will extract the anti fouling material and bring back in use the copper which contains. Our technology is clean (non chemical), based on Mechanical Recycling and unlike our competitors we do not have any kind of leftovers, let alone toxic and harmful for the environment.

Traction & achievements

The company is already formed and registered in Greece and has all the necessary documentations to get started. We have ordered all the equipment for the 1st line of production of 500 tones, which is custom made, already made and tested (with proof of concept and samples given to specific industries for proven use), stored in China's customhouse and will be shipped and delivered within 2 months, and we are in negotiations for renting the plot where the factory will be established. The team is ready and on hold. Recyblue will rent a plot of around 8.000 square meters in the industrial area of Aspropyrgos here in Greece with a building of at least 2.000 square meters where we will place the first 2 lines of production and another 2 in the future in order to be able to cover the vast demand for cheap, recycled raw nylon materials of the highest quality ready to be used for developing new products by many industries. As we have mentioned, we have already made partnerships for delivering to us the fishing nets for processing and we have also located and targeted our potential clients that are stand by for orders as soon as we start the productions. We have also all the necessary and required permits from the government agencies for the establishment and the operation of our factory.

Team & Why Us

The Recyblue team brings together decades of experience in recycling. Spyros Gianniotis, CEO, has 30 years of experience in Recycling, with a proven track record of setting up numerous MRF and recycling units. Our CTO, Eirene Gioti,Chemist, is an expert in recycling polymer science, with 20 years of experience, developing innovative recycling technologies. Tang Fen, who holds the 1% of the company’s shares and has an MBA from the Guilin Science & Technology University, will be the Marketing and Sales manager to Far East Countries. Lianhua Zhang, who has also 1% of the company and has a 20 years experience as head of procuction in Yun Cheng Huayun Cotton Mills, will be Chief of Stuff and will cooperate closely with our Production Manager, John Papagiannis, who has a whole career in managing recycling plants. The team also includes Fania Dakou, Business Consultant, which is our Head of Business Development and has successfully scaled various companies in the sustainability sector.

Funding Needs

The only obstacle is the financial support that is needed in order to go further and be able to set up all production lines and the inability to receive bank loans as the company is newly formed. The company will need at first a working capital of 500.000€ for establishing the first line of production in a selected rented area in the industrial zone of Aspropyrgos. The plan is to have 3 lines of production established by the end of the 3rd year.
