About

REDAR is a startup focused on developing optical sensors for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission measurements and aims to revolutionize how industries and governments monitor environmental impact. Our vision is to design cutting-edge optical sensors that can be integrated across various platforms, industrial equipment, and ground-based stations, to continuously monitor and quantify greenhouse gases like methane (CH4). Unlike traditional chemical sensors, optical sensors offer a non-intrusive, faster, and more scalable approach to gas detection. By employing advanced algorithms and machine learning, REDAR sensors can accurately distinguish between different gases and environmental noise, enhancing the reliability of the measurements.

Solution & Product

One of our primary goals is to create adaptable sensor platforms that can be handheld or mounted on dronoes and cater to various industries. For example, in agriculture, these sensors can be mounted on drones to monitor methane emissions from livestock and fertilizer-related nitrous oxide emissions. In the oil and gas sector, the sensors can be deployed at extraction sites to detect fugitive emissions, helping companies minimize leaks and meet regulatory standards.

Innovation & Scalability

REDAR is inspired from tech used in space and aims to miniturise that technology in order to provide more accurate and precise observations on earth. We also aim to address the affordability and scalability challenges of existing GHG measurement technologies. Current high-precision GHG monitoring systems are often expensive, bulky, and limited in application. By leveraging innovations in miniaturization and production, REDAR seeks to offer cost-effective sensors that can be deployed at scale. The ability to manufacture compact, energy-efficient, and highly sensitive sensors will make GHG monitoring accessible to a wider range of users, from large industries to small farmers and environmental agencies.

Traction & achievements

Our product development strategy is structured around three distinct phases, each with specific goals and milestones. Phase 1 focuses on developing a functional lab demonstrator, and the team is on track with the development, laying the groundwork for subsequent phases.
