About

SYINTEC designs, develops, and markets innovative products and services in the area of telecommunications and Internet of Things. SYINTEC openly promotes synergies between highly qualified professionals, talented young engineers, companies, and scientific Institutes. The target outcome is the development of diverse, efficient, advanced, and competitive solutions for the market. Our scope of business focuses on the following domains: - Innovative product design, implementation and commercialization - Consulting engineering services - Participation in Research projects that promote innovation SYINTEC was founded by a team of Electrical & Telecommunication Engineers with extensive business experience, technical expertise, and operational knowledge gained from over 3 decades of working experience in the telecommunication market.

Solution & Product

For reasons of population health & safety, the accurate prediction of Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Density is of paramount importance. Non-ionizing EMF radiation exists in the vicinity of Basestations (BSs) for mobile communications and other Ulta-High Frequency (UHF) transmitters. This is currently addressed in a non-unified way by Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) that are responsible for submitting EMF studies for BS licensing purposes (on new or upgraded BSs). SYINTEC will market a SW tool providing accurate prediction of EMF in areas accessible to the public in a given geographical region around the antennas without the prerequisite of existing digital maps. The goal is to adjust antenna settings in order to eliminate EMF overrun in populated areas. The tool will propose the optimal solution based on pre-defined or custom-made scenarios. This automatization minimizes human intervention, reduces mistakes, and accelerates BS licensing procedures. Two main components are required: 1) development of methods for accurate prediction of EMF in 3D space. The EMF power is calculated based on proven radio propagation models, taking into account the antenna radiation pattern, transmission power, signal attenuation, radio wave refraction/reflection, and special characteristics of the technology (4G/5G). 2) acquisition of detailed 3D geographical data of the area via a drone equipped with Lidar to scan and map in 3D the area of interest.

Innovation & Scalability

SYINTEC develops an innovative tool that will provide full automatization of EMF troubleshooting procedures, setting it in a privileged position to the competition, on a platform based on the characteristics of the new technologies, flexible and adaptable to the EMF regulations of each country, and without the need for existing digital maps. There are very few companies worldwide that have developed specialized EMF compliance SW tools. The tools that could be considered competitors to the SYINTEC tool are Mitharem of Geomod, IXUS of IXUS, Syryaem 2.5D of ni logic, and HFSS of Anssys. These mostly have used existing SW initially developed for other markets that were modified in order to cover the necessities of this need, resulting in drawbacks such as the high cost implied of the creation and update of the required ultra-high-resolution maps on a country basis and the lack of a platform to support the prediction of multibeam antennas. Since there is a low worldwide competition and no directly equivalent tool in the market the growth potential is immense. SYINTEC will try to acquire this niche market quickly before the appearance of new competitors that realize the potential of this product. SYINTEC customers are the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). The worldwide mobile communications market provided services to 8,620 billion mobile subscriptions worldwide at 2022 (source: Ericsson Mobility Report, June 2023). There are currently over 1000 MNOs worldwide (source: GSMA).

Traction & achievements

SYINTEC is seeking funding for developing this product. The management team has long experience in RF safety issues in Greece and abroad. Mr. Tsikrikonis is currently leading a team developing RF Safety studies in Belgium. The tool used is Mitharem and he is familiar with the shortcomings of this tool. Dr. Korinthios has long experience with RF safety issues, as deputy Director and Quality Officer in the accredited Fasmetrics EMF measurements laboratory. He was also responsible for conducting more than 100 RF safety studies for Wind Hellas (now Nova). The management team believes that it is essential to engage an MNO in the development of this tool and recently secured the active participation of Victus Networks, which is a joint venture of Vodafone Greece and Nova responsible for Radio Network Development for both MNOs.

Team & Why Us

CEO is Mr. Nikolaos Tsikrikonis, Electrical Engineer, M.Eng (AUTH) born in Volos, Greece (1970). He has very long experience in radio telecommunications sector working in companies in Greece (Vodafone, Fasmetrics), Belgium (MOBISTAR (ORANGE), BASE (TELENET), BENCHMARK, ZITES, COMMSQUARE) and Israel (ERICCSON). He worked in a variety of positions both technical (radio engineer/consultant) and non-technical (procurement). Since 2021 he has been handling EMF compatibility studies, as a consultant, for Mobile Operators in Belgium and Luxembourg. Business Development Director is Dr. Ioannis Korinthios, Electrical Engineer Ph.D (NTUA, 1990 & 1995) born in Athens, Greece (1967). He is an experienced startup entrepreneur and co-founded SYINTEC IKE and fasmetrics S.A. He has long experience in the telecommunications sector and radio networks working with large companies and SMEs in key positions, indicatively, Vodafone Greece (Radio Technology Manager) and fasmetrics S.A.(Technology Director).

Funding Needs

The product development phase including trials with selected MNOs requires a two year period and results in a ready to market tool. This phase is estimated to cost 700K Euros. The initial product marketing and sales phase focusing in promoting the product in European countries is designed in a step-wise two year approach. This phase includes further product development to enable complete satisfaction of first customers and requires 600K Euros.
