About

Velos Rotors is a Greek-founded company specializing in the design and manufacturing of unmanned electric helicopters. Our UAV systems are deployed across a wide range of applications, including (but not limited to) LiDAR and magnetic surveying, critical cargo transportation, as well as government and military operations. Over the past decade, we have delivered hundreds of units worldwide, and our US-patented product is widely regarded as the best in its category (MTOW 25 kg). You can learn more on our new website: https://velos-rotors.com/. Our flagship product, the Velos V3, is an electric, fully redundant, multipurpose unmanned platform based on the traditional helicopter design. Its capabilities and the technologies incorporated into the system stem from more than 20 years of experience in unmanned helicopters, combined with flight data gathered from worldwide operations over the past decade. Optimized for long endurance while carrying heavy payloads, and supported by a redundant drivetrain - control system, the Velos V3 is a mission-ready UAV platform. As one of the leading UAV manufacturers, Velos Rotors is always looking ahead and is excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new aircraft by the end of 2025: the V-Twin “Kratos.” This tandem helicopter will embody all the qualities Velos is known for while doubling the payload capacity.

Solution & Product

Velos Rotors addresses the limitations of conventional drones by offering the Velos V3, a high-performance electric unmanned helicopter designed for professional and defense missions that require reliability, endurance, and high payload capacity. The Velos V3 features a unique twin-transmission system that provides full redundancy and ensures safe operation even in the event of an (unlikely) critical component failure. With a payload capacity of up to 10 kg and flight endurance ranging from 20 to 80+ minutes, it bridges the gap between lightweight multirotors and manned helicopters. Its carbon-fiber structure and weather-resistant design enable operation in harsh conditions, while its open architecture supports the integration of various payloads and communication systems. Velos Rotors complements the platform with services such as customization, integration support, and training, delivering a versatile, sustainable, and dependable aerial solution for commercial and defense (dual-use) applications. The latest addition to the Velos Rotors product line, the Velos V-Twin, is an electric, fully redundant, adaptable multipurpose unmanned platform based on a traditional tandem-helicopter design (twin rotors) and can carry payloads up to 20kg. The capabilities and technologies incorporated into our systems are the result of over 20 years of experience in unmanned helicopters, combined with flight data gathered from worldwide operations over the past decade.

Innovation & Scalability

Velos Rotors is genuinely innovative, embedding both technological and business-model innovations. Its flagship, the Velos V3, features a patented twin-transmission system which ensures full redundancy, allowing safe flight even after critical component failures, a capability most drones lack. The V3’s single-rotor helicopter design offers longer endurance, higher payload capacity (up to 10kg), and stable operation in harsh / GPS-denied environments, surpassing conventional multirotors. Its modular architecture allows rapid integration of LiDAR, cameras, or cargo modules, giving customers flexibility for multiple mission types. Velos Rotors’ innovative business model targets both commercial and defense sectors with a dual-use platform. Its unique value proposition is delivering a reliable, versatile and high-performance unmanned helicopter that bridges the gap between low-end drones and expensive manned helicopters, combining the best elements of both worlds. Velos Rotors has strong growth potential due to the rapidly expanding UAV market, projected to grow from USD 36.41 billion in 2024 to USD 125.91 billion by 2032 (CAGR ~17.3%). Velos Rotors can easily scale up due to fully in-house development (not relied on third parties) and expand production capacity, while entering new geographic markets.

Traction & achievements

Since its founding, Velos Rotors has achieved several key milestones that demonstrate its growth and technological leadership. The company launched its first product, the Velos 880, and quickly expanded into the industrial and defense sectors. In 2019, the Velos V2 introduced the “Payload Over Rotor” capability, and in 2021, the Velos V3 was released with a patented twin-transmission system, enhanced components, and advanced firmware. Velos has successfully conducted high-altitude and harsh-environment flight tests in 14,000ft, proving endurance and reliability. Collaborations with leading technology providers and regional partners have expanded Velos Rotors’ operational capabilities and global reach. Its platforms have also been deployed in projects involving the US Navy, and the war in Ukraine, validating its dual-use capabilities. These achievements, combined with a funding round in 2023 and continuous product development, position Velos Rotors for scalable growth across commercial and defense sectors. Remarkably, the Velos V3 has completed the longest human organ transportation flight in UAV history in the United States. Moreover, it has repeatedly completed successful transport flights over the Aegean Sea. Specifically, the Velos V3 has delivered blood samples and specialized medicines from Naxos to the neighboring smaller islands.

Team & Why Us

Velos Rotors generates revenue primarily through the direct sale of its Velos unmanned helicopters to commercial, and defense customers. The company offers customizable platforms, allowing clients to integrate specific payloads, sensors, and communication systems, which can include additional service fees for integration, training, and maintenance. Velos Rotors also provides after-sales support, software updates, and spare parts, creating recurring revenue opportunities. Distribution is handled through direct sales to end customers, and partnerships with specialized UAV dealers. The company showcases its products via demonstrations, public events, and targeted digital marketing, enabling potential clients to experience performance and reliability firsthand. This model ensures both high-touch customer engagement and flexibility, allowing Velos Rotors to adapt solutions to varied mission requirements while maintaining a premium, high-performance positioning in the UAV market. Moreover, another key strategy is the expansion of our product line and production capacity to meet the ever growing demand for reliable unmanned systems in both commercial and defense applications. Last but not least, strategic partnerships, regulatory navigation, and ongoing innovation will be crucial for overcoming potential barriers and capturing additional market share.
